Two break-ins near Selma, reported less than 30 minutes apart, last Thursday could be connected.
The first break-in was discovered at 3:40pm in the 100 block of Old Dam Road. Someone forced their way in the front door of the home and stolen numerous items including a laptop, computer tablet, two safes, a 65 inch TV, two rifles and a 22 caliber handgun. The items were valued at $3,591. The homeowner told Johnston County deputies they left home around 7:20 that morning.
At 4:00pm, deputies were called to the 1000 block of Branch Chapel Church Road. Someone had kicked in the back door to the home and taken a TV, computer table, video game system, jar of money, a patio furniture set, cell phone, and the victim’s high heel shoes. The missing items were valued at $3,900. The victim said when they left home around 7:30am everything was secure.
Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said detectives have been assigned to investigate both break-ins.
