Officers set up the checkpoint on US 301 North at NC Highway 39.
In addition to the two suspected impaired drivers, police arrested one fugitive, issued 7 drug charges, and cited 9 people for driving on a revoked license or driving with no license.

Selma Police Chief J.A. Hughes told The Johnston County Report, “The Selma Police Department will continue to use every approach to reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roadways. These drivers create great risks to innocent motorists. As the chief of Selma Police Department, I will do my best to implement technology and training for my officers and encourage them to be proactive in taking drunk drivers off the streets.”

Chief Hughes added, “I would like to thank the Smithfield Police Department, NCSHP, Wilson’s Mills Police Department, NC ALE, the BatMobile operator, and the officers of the Selma Police Department who made this event successful.”
