Selma Town Manager Resigns
SELMA — The Selma Town Council announced Thursday night that Town Manager Alexis Carter has resigned, less than one year after assuming the position.
The council voted unanimously to accept Carter’s resignation, which was submitted to the board by email on January 6, according to town officials. The announcement was made during the council’s January 8 meeting.
Carter began her role as Selma’s town manager on January 31, 2025, following her hiring announcement earlier that month.
As of Thursday night, the council had not named an interim town manager or announced next steps for filling the position.
Carter was hired after previously serving as Assistant Town Manager for Princeville, North Carolina.
Town officials did not provide additional details regarding the reason for Carter’s resignation.

She’ earned a degree in 2022 and gets a town managers position. Selma was also going to pay for her law exam and pay a portion of her personal car expenses. Now she resigned and we don’t know why. Town of Selma please be more transparent as to why she resigned. Tax payers have the right to know.
They’re not allowed to speculate. If she didn’t provide a reason, then that was her right.
If they forced her to resign, I would hope that would eventually be public.
Why are you so obsessed with what the reasons are, for this young Lady’s departure is !!??? SO WHAT if she got her degree in 2022!!??? Maybe she got fed up with all you. You are not important! At least good old “Elizabeth Anne Temple” had a nice thing to say!! Grace is not something that appears to be a personal trait among the some of you folks… sheesh!!! Unless she did some illegal things, then you all should just go away with your bigotry and misogyny!!
My dad was a town manager there for 1 1/2 years, back in the 80’s. Then tend to run them off for reasons of not finding a suitable house to move in to, then officials filling their pools up for free, and my dad saying something about it! 😔

No one has a right to know of another’s personal information period. The entitlement of so many folks to think they deserve anything having nothing to do with them is shameful and an embarrassment. I hope you recognize how foolish you are and desist.
Everyone does what’s good for them and their family. If the position was NOT a good for her situation then so be it. She does not have to give a reason to resign. Let her live and do what’s best for her.

Maybe people should stick to one and two syllable words when they don’t know the meanings of the words they speak.

Are we “entitled” to this woman’s private info? No. But someone please tell me why this town can’t keep a Town Manager. We’ve had….how many people in this position in the past few years?
