SELMA – Two separate accidents caused major traffic delays Monday afternoon on Interstate 95 near Selma.
The first accident occurred around 4:00pm in the northbound lanes near Exit 97. Two motorcycles collided causing minor injuries.
That accident was quickly followed by three vehicles colliding, including an SUV that overturned.
One motorcyclist in the first collision was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two people in the second accident were rushed to WakeMed with serious injuries.
Two dogs in the three-vehicle crash escaped serious harm.
All travel lanes reopened around 5:00pm, but not before northbound traffic had backed up nearly four miles.
