Seven Arrested During Search Warrant At Johnston County Home

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Seven people were arrested on drug-related charges after Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies executed a narcotics search warrant at a southern Johnston County residence following a two-month undercover investigation.

The search warrant was served July 2 at a home in the 300 block of Thornton Road near Newton Grove. Sheriff’s Office narcotics agents said 12 people were found at the property during the search.

Investigators reported locating and seizing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia from the residence.

The following individuals were arrested:

  • Carrie Nicole Norris, 49, of Thornton Road, Newton Grove
  • Betina Hudson, 65, of Thornton Road, Newton Grove
  • Melody Gwen Womack, 65, of Thornton Road, Newton Grove
  • Dezmon Terrence Rogers, 27, of Thornton Road, Newton Grove
  • Delbert Wayne Lane, 69, of Lee-Johnson Road, Dunn
  • Marvin Eugene Smith III, 32, of Andorra Place, Angier
  • Wanda Lou Rhodes, 62, of East Fayetteville Street, Micro

Authorities said all seven suspects face drug-related charges. All but Hudson were charged with felony offenses. Hudson faces misdemeanor charges.

Following the investigation, Johnston County Building Inspections officials responded to the property and condemned the home.

Authorities also reportedly discovered five people living in a semi-trailer parked on the property.

The investigation remains ongoing and more charges are anticipated.
