Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault at an elementary school. The incident occurred Friday afternoon.
Smithfield Police have confirmed they were called to South Smithfield Elementary School around 2:00 PM after a 7 year-old male child reported that he was inappropriately touched, according to Police Captain R.K. Powell.
Police said the suspect in the case is another juvenile at the school.
The case has been assigned to the detective’s division, Powell said. He added that Johnston County school officials are cooperating with the investigation.
