Sheriff’s Office Seeks Suspect In Armed Robbery Of Elderly Man

PRINCETON, N.C. — Johnston County authorities are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a 78-year-old homeowner at gunpoint after walking through an unlocked door Saturday afternoon.

The armed robbery was reported around 2:25 p.m. June 27 at a residence on Edwards Road near Princeton.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, the elderly homeowner was sitting inside his residence when an unknown man entered the home and confronted him.

The victim, who has mobility issues, told deputies the intruder pointed a black handgun at him and demanded money.

The suspect took the man’s wallet, an undisclosed amount of cash and two credit cards before fleeing the residence.

Despite the frightening encounter, the victim was not physically injured.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall and weighing about 185 pounds, with short brown hair. He was reportedly wearing a white shirt that had been pulled over part of his face in an apparent attempt to conceal his identity.

Detectives continue to investigate the robbery and have not announced any arrests.

  1. Well, dang! Glad the man is physically okay but I’m sure the mental injury will be there the rest of his life. Imagine living a lifetime without having to lock your doors, watch your back every time you go outside- now post-retirement age and having to completely shift your way of life.

    The freedoms we once had here are being stripped away by selfish thugs.

    The judicial system is broken. Families are broken. School systems are broken. The USA is broken.

    Just sad. Sorry, sir, that you had to endure an extremely frightening situation.
