Sheriff’s Office: Suspect Caught Stealing Items From Construction Site

PRINCETON — A Middlesex man was arrested early December 23 after deputies say he was caught stealing materials from a construction site near Princeton.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 5:47 a.m. to a report of a suspicious pickup truck backed into the driveway of a home under construction on Hummingbird Grove Lane.

Deputies reportedly found Joshua Clay Denton, 46, of Jordan Lane in Middlesex at the scene with a pickup truck loaded with vinyl siding, lumber and metal. The materials were valued at $908.

The stolen items were recovered and returned to the owner, Dees Construction LLC of Smithfield.

Denton was charged with felony larceny from a construction site. He was taken to the Johnston County Detention Center and placed under a $30,000 secured bond.
