Sheriff’s Office: Two Charged After Drugs, Stolen Firearm Found

KENLY, N.C. – Two people were arrested after Johnston County deputies reportedly found suspected crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, Suboxone, drug paraphernalia and two firearms during a search warrant near Kenly. Investigators said one of the guns had previously been reported stolen to the Smithfield Police Department.

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from N.C. Probation and Parole, executed the search warrant Sept. 11 at a home in the 1600 block of Beulahtown Road.

Van Buren Killette Jr., 42, and Jennifer Renee Wyand, 45, both of Beulahtown Road, were arrested.

Killette was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation.

His bond was set at $150,000 secured on the new charges. He was also held without bond on the probation violation.

Wyand was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place for a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Her bond was set at $100,000 secured.
