CLAYTON – Clayton Police are investigating a shooting. It happened around 12:30pm Sunday. Officers were initially dispatched to the parking lot of Wendy’s, off US Highway 70 Business, to a reported of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police located 22 year-old Nassir Lyndell Ford of Raleigh seated in a Dodge Challenger suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. Ford was transported to WakeMed in Raleigh by Johnston County EMS.
Clayton police officers and investigators interviewed witnesses and conducted a crime scene search of the area. They determined that two to three black male subjects approached Ford while he was seated in his car in the 400 block of Commodore Street and attempted to rob him. A shot was fired during the altercation and Ford drove away from the area, then stopped in the Wendy’s parking lot.
Witnesses described the suspects running from the area after the shooting and leaving in an unknown vehicle. Police said this does not appear to be a random act.
Anyone with information about the Commodore Street shooting is asked to call Clayton Police at 919-553-4611 or the Clayton Police Tip Line at 919-553-1555. Callers may remain anonymous.
I would like to know what really happened. I hope the report is posted here when Police find out.
Just poking around Facebook for names tells the tale of the tape.
Great point Steve. I think we already know it wasn’t an innocent afternoon after church Sunday brunch. Jussaying. Clayton has been a great place to live for as far back as I can remember. It definitely is taking a negative turn now….not at fault of the town….but the fault of the mess and (drugs) oh I meant drama being brought into the sweet lil town. Prayers for the town I love the most.
As this area grows,so does crime. I worked in the area for years. Most people robbing people were from the Durham area. When I lived in Cary, same thing happened. I worked in Durham for years and the gangs are running the area.
