The police department has hired these officers to fill vacant positions and strengthen public safety services in Smithfield. While several have already been actively serving, the swearing-in ceremony was delayed to accommodate scheduling conflicts and ensure family members could attend.
The officers receiving the Oath of Office were:
Police Officer I Alysha Jones

Master Police Officer Shayna Cox
Police Officer I Zachary Perry
Police Officer I Kyle Corry
Police Officer I Kyree Norman
Mayor Moore and Town Council members welcomed the officers, emphasizing the important role they play in protecting and serving the citizens of Smithfield. The ceremony offered the community an opportunity to recognize the dedication, professionalism, and service these officers bring to the town.
“Today, we not only welcome these officers officially into their roles, but we also celebrate their commitment to keeping our community safe,” Mayor Moore said. “We are grateful for their service and the positive impact they will have in Smithfield.”
The Smithfield Police Department continues to focus on providing strong, responsive public safety services, with these six officers contributing to the town’s ongoing efforts to serve and protect its residents.
