Skeletal Remains Discovered Near Neuse River
SMITHFIELD — Smithfield Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found Wednesday afternoon in a wooded area near the Neuse River.
The remains were discovered off South Brightleaf Boulevard near an old boat ramp, several hundred yards from the Neuse River bridge.
The remains were sent to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification. Police said no foul play is suspected at this time.
No additional information has been released.
The location is the same general area where an unidentified body was recovered from the Neuse River in April 2017. Those remains were never identified.

Weren’t skeletal remains found less than 90 days ago in Wilson’s Mills? What is going on and I’m guessing neither are related and no word yet on the aforementioned. God bless the families.
