Smithfield Men Stole Over $26,000 In Property, JCSO Says

FOUR OAKS – Two Smithfield-area residents are charged with felony offenses. Anthony Lee Shelton, age 58, and Jack Glenn Campbell Jr., age 43, both of the 3700 block of US 70 Business East, were arrested January 23 by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Detectives reportedly linked Shelton and Campbell to the December 5, 2023 theft of $26,200 of copper, tools, and vehicle parts from an address on Go Cart Road near Four Oaks. The stolen copper, valued at $20,000, was reportedly sold to a local salvage yard.

Both suspects are charged with felony breaking and entering and felony larceny. They were confined in the Johnston County Detention Center. Shelton was held under a $30,000 secured bond and Campbell under a $20,000 secured bond.
