Smithfield Police Investigating Indecent Exposure Cases

SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Smithfield Police believe the same man is responsible for two indecent exposure incidents that occurred on consecutive mornings outside a local Starbucks.

The incidents were reported before sunrise on July 28 and July 29 outside the Starbucks on South Equity Drive.

According to police, the suspect exposed himself while standing outside the business at approximately 4:31 a.m. Tuesday and again at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday. The coffee shop had not yet opened on either morning.

Officers responded after both incidents were reported, but the suspect had fled before police arrived.

Investigators said they have developed a possible suspect and believe the two cases are connected.

The investigation remains ongoing.
