Smithfield Store Employee Arrested For Embezzlement

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police have charged a former employee at a Smithfield business with embezzlement.

On Feb. 28, 2024 management at LIDS at 1247 Outlet Center Drive reported the alleged theft of $2,187.01 in money, 20 hats valued at $900, 6 jerseys valued at $780, 4 hat pins worth $40, 10 shirts valued at $300, and 2 shorts that cost $170.

The alleged crime occurred between Dec. 23, 2023 and Feb. 28, 2024.

Deandre Kittrell Sutton, age 20, of Rosewood Road, Goldsboro was served with a warrant charging her with embezzlement. Sutton was given a $20,000 unsecured bond at the Johnston County Detention Center.

According to a police report, none of the money or merchandise has been recovered.
