SMITHFIELD – A former clerk at a Smithfield convenience store has been charged with embezzlement and larceny by an employee.
Amanda Jane Mellor, age 31, of North Street, Smithfield was arrested Feb. 29 by Smithfield Police.
Police allege Mellor stole $1,260 in cash, $93.40 in cigarettes, and sodas valued at $10.36 while she was employed at the Speedway, located at 2103 S. Brightleaf Boulevard.
Mellor was given a $20,000 unsecured bond.
