MIDDLESEX – A Johnston County family escaped their burning home thanks to working smoke detectors.
At 6:02pm Thursday, the house fire was reported on Rhododendron Drive off Friendship Church Road in northeastern Johnston County.
Personnel from the Corinth Holders, Antioch and Zebulon Fire Departments responded. They arrived to find the garage fully engulfed and flames extending into the roof.
It took about 45 minutes to bring the blaze under control. No injuries were reported.
The fire originated in the garage area but the cause remains under investigation by the Johnston County Fire Marshal’s Office.
