Son Accused Of Manslaughter In Father’s Death

CLAYTON – A 20-year-old Johnston County man was arrested today (Thursday) in connection with the death of his father. Donte Khamani Deloatch of Clayton was arrested on a voluntary manslaughter warrant in connection with the death of his father, 60-year-old William Deloatch.

On July 11, around 7:50 p.m., Clayton Police Chief Greg Tart said officers responded to a disturbance in a parking lot located at 5400 Barber Mill Road.

Police discovered William Deloatch lying near a tree. First responders performed life-saving methods, but it was determined that Mr. Deloatch was deceased.

Police said they determined Mr. Deloatch and his son, Donte Deloatch, had gotten into an argument and a physical altercation in the parking lot, resulting in the death of William Deloatch.

After further investigation and consultation with the NC Medical Examiner’s Office and the Johnston County District Attorney’s Office, a warrant was obtained for voluntary manslaughter.

Donte Deloatch was arrested today and confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.
