A 22 year-old man has been charged in the shooting death of his own father.
The Nash County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a report of an accidental shooting at a home at 7213 Summerlea Place near Rocky Mount on Saturday.
Upon arrival, deputies said they determined the call was a domestic homicide.
The victim was identified as 51 year-old William Marcellus Major. His son, William Marcellus Major Jr. was identified as the suspect. The 22 year-old man was later charged with first degree murder.
Authorities said there is no clear motive for the murder.
William Marcellus Major Jr. was fingerprinted, photographed and placed in the Nash County Detention Center Saturday night where he was held without bond. His first court appearance is set for Tuesday, April 16th.
