SMITHFIELD – Johnston County Public Schools will spend just over a half million dollars to replace the tennis courts at Smithfield Selma High School.
Brooks Moore, Chief of Facilities and Construction recently told the Board of Education the tennis courts are in desperate need of replacement. In addition to replacing the courts, the project will include ADA access, parking, wheelchair access, and new sidewalks to the bleachers and concession/bathroom areas.
Following a motion by Board Member Mike Wooten and seconded by Kevin Donovan, RDU Paving of Raleigh was awarded the low bid of $528,610.33. An additional contingency of $30,000 was approved in case of any unforeseen costs.
