Stolen Car Recovered After Crashing Into Pond
SELMA, N.C. — A vehicle stolen from a Selma convenience store Friday night was recovered just minutes later after it crashed into a pond, according to Selma Police.
Officers were dispatched to Han-Dee Hugo’s BP on U.S. 70 following a report that a vehicle had been stolen from the store’s parking lot.
A short time later, officers located the stolen vehicle on Firetower Road, where it had failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and come to rest in a nearby pond.
The driver had already fled the scene before officers arrived.
Police deployed a drone and searched the surrounding area but were unable to locate the suspect, who was described as an unknown male dressed in all black with his face covered.
Selma Police continue to investigate the vehicle theft and are asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact the department.

A friend of mine left his running while he went in a store in Clayton near Garner off 70. After 3 weeks they still hadn’t recovered it. A passenger got out a van and they both took off. Couldn’t make out the plate on the van from the camera.
