A Smithfield man is accused of leading deputies on brief chase that never got above the posted speed limit. Johnston County SAFE Team deputies were on Hickory Crossroads Road near Kenly on December 7th conducting patrol operations.
One of the deputies attempted to stop a car but the driver refused to pull over. The deputy radioed ahead to other officers who were already in the area and they deployed stop sticks ending the chase after only three miles.
The driver, 24 year-old Daniel Jordon Walker of Brogden School Road, Smithfield reportedly didn’t tell deputies why he wouldn’t pull over. However, officers learned he did not have a drivers license and his vehicle didn’t have insurance.
He faces several charges including driving without a license, driving without insurance, fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, resisting a public officer, failure to wear a seat belt and having fictitious tag. Bond was set at $15,000.
