Storage Containers Forcibly Entered At Two Businesses

SMITHFIELD – Police are investigating break-ins at storage containers behind two Smithfield businesses. They were discovered less than two hours apart.

Around 11:19am Sunday, officers responded to the Levi Outlet at 1025 Outlet Center Drive after an employee discovered a storage container behind the store had been entered. The suspect or suspects cut the lock off the door and made entry. An unknown quantity of pants and shirts were stolen. The container was last known secure around 5:00pm Saturday.

At 1:12pm, an employee at Smithfield Cinemas, located at 175 S. Equity Drive, discovered a storage container had also been forced entered by cutting off the lock. No items were taken. The container was last known secure around 4:00pm Saturday.

Smithfield Police said there were no witnesses or any cameras covering the areas where the containers were located.

  1. What is it about the Outlets that the police cannot keep thieves from stealing on what seems like an every day basis? Hell, if I didn’t know right from wrong and had respect for others, I’d be dressing in some fine clothing myself. Now they’re breaking into storage containers? No alarms? No cameras? No security? Close the da*n mall. Amazon has all the goods anyway.
