Store Employee Arrested For Embezzlement
SMITHFIELD – Police investigators charged a Smithfield store employee with embezzlement after funds were allegedly discovered missing from the business.
On March 23, 2023, Smithfield Police launched an investigation into allegations of missing money from Torrid, on Outlet Center Drive.
Police allege an employee, Casey Lynn Pacheco, age 22, of Four Oaks, had performed numerous fraudulent returns since December 2022. There were no returned products, however Pacheco allegedly still took the cash refund.
Also, a bank deposit she was entrusted with was never delivered to the bank, police said. Altogether, she allegedly stole $1,736.57 from Torrid.
Pacheco was arrested June 11 and charged with embezzlement. She was held under a $5,000 secured bond.

Public opinion is a funny thing because the ones that are the first to throw stones are usually the ones usually have the most interesting lives and best values. And yes, that’s blatant sarcasm towards those who are holier-than-thou. What would the world do without you? But no need for an answer.

First off I stand corrected on my spelling. I should have typed stealing and not steeling. Just a typo for all that are so critical about my spelling. As far as you go Ed Freeman, I owned my own business, and our employees were paid well but I had about three employees steal cash from me. I had them arrested and have no mercy for people who steal from the hand that feeds them. For you to defend her makes me wonder what kind of past you have. She is old enough to know right from wrong.
Based on the amount stolen vs the bond amount she’s in the negative. Stealing doesn’t pay!
