Nine Selma Middle students who showed growth and proficiency on their end of grade tests won new bicycles thanks to support from the community.
Several area businesses, churches, and community members generously donated the bicycles to be awarded as prizes to the students.
Students in every grade level who met the performance criteria on their end of grade tests had their name placed in a drawing for the bikes.
Nine bikes were donated to the school to be given away. Boys and girls from each grade level were selected to win a bike, as well as the student with the highest reading and math test scores in the school.
Fifth grade students who won new bicycles were Luke Woodall, Shaynn Spencer, and Janashia O’Neal (high score winner). Sixth grade students who won new bicycles were Julius Jones and Jade Hernandez Navarro. Seventh grade students who won new bicycles were Deion Wright and Karelli Bojorquez-Armenta. Eighth grade students who won new bicycles were Sergio Parejo and Michell Terran-Herrara.
