SMITHFIELD – A former Johnston County EMS ambulance will used by local college students for training. Johnston County Emergency Services recently removed a 2006 Ford E-450 from their fleet. The ambulance was originally obtained when Johnston County took over Princeton EMS in 2012. The ambulance has only 72,408 miles but no longer meets the minimum standards to respond to emergency medical calls.
On October 21st, representing the Johnston County Board of Commissioners, Kevin Hubbard, Director of Johnston County Emergency Services, formally presented the surplus ambulance to Johnston Community College. JCC President Dr. David Johnson accepted the donation on behalf of the college.
JCC will use the ambulance for the driver training portion of the emergency medical service (EMS) education program.
