Surveillance Video Leads To Charges Against Walmart Employee

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A former Walmart employee has been charged after she allegedly stole merchandise from the store where she worked.
Amaya Chanel Stephens, 23, of Clayton was arrested June 20 and charged with two felony counts of larceny by employee.
According to the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Walmart loss prevention personnel reported Stephens was captured on surveillance video taking merchandise from the store on two separate occasions earlier this month.
The incidents reportedly occurred June 3 and June 6 at the Walmart located at 5141 Veterans Parkway near I-40.
Officers allege Stephens placed merchandise into a bag while working and then left the store at the end of her shift without paying for the items.
The stolen merchandise was valued at approximately $58.26 and included chicken, chicken tenders, a hamburger and a sports drink.
Although the value of the merchandise was relatively low, North Carolina law classifies larceny by employee as a felony offense when an employee steals property entrusted to them by their employer.
Stephens was given a $500 secured bond following her arrest.

Didnt even get to eat her dinner.
That’s an expensive meal from Walmart !
That’s just what she got caught doing.
Can we not publicly shame people over stealing food? Walmart is a multi billion dollar corporation that doesn’t pay people a living wage, let’s shame them instead.
Right smh
So you want to blame the Victim who was paying her to work there. She could have worked at any other place but she made a decision to work there. Then she stoled from them. Again, who is wrong here?? Get your priorities right because your thinking is stinking!!
I agree with Julie Taylor.
Walmart doesn’t even pay enough for its employee’s to eat.
