A Smithfield man was arrested Tuesday for the alleged theft of a wrecker stolen last month from a Johnston County business.
On February 3, an employee at Eastern Wrecker on US 70 near the Johnston-Wake County line reported an individual came into the business and requested to test drive a 2000 Freightliner wrecker. The man, identified as 22 year-old Brad Sinclair McDougald of Thain Place, Smithfield never returned the vehicle to the business.
McDougald was located on Tuesday and charged with felony larceny of a motor vehicle. He was given a $2,000 bond on the charge.
In 2011, McDougald was one of four students from South Johnston High School arrested for allegedly detonating homemade bombs in the Sawmill Subdivision near Four Oaks. Those charges were later dismissed. No injuries resulted from the incident.
