NEWTON GROVE – An intense manhunt by law enforcement officers took place Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 40 at the Johnston-Sampson County line. It began when a state trooper in Johnston County attempted to stop a stolen Lexus traveling eastbound on I-40. The driver failed to pull over.
The chase reached speeds in excess of 110 miles per hour until the driver stopped alongside I-40 just inside the Sampson County line and fled on foot into a wooded area beside the interstate. The female suspect fled so quickly she left her flip flops beside the stolen car.

Numerous state troopers, a Highway Patrol helicopter, Johnston County deputies, and a sheriff’s office K-9 searched for the driver. The suspect was reportedly captured more than an hour later in the woods between I-40 and Highway 50 South. The woman was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
Her name has not been released. No injuries were reported.

Are they going to auction off those flops?
