Update 7:00PM – Goldsboro Police have arrested Karla Ann Davis for attempted first degree murder. Davis was taken into custody without incident. Davis was taken before a criminal magistrate and held without bond. The victim still remains in critical condition.
GOLDSBORO – A 39 year-old woman is in critical condition after police said she was intentionally set on fire. At 11:30pm Wednesday, Goldsboro Police were dispatched to a residence on Hickory Street to a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Latonya McCoy, suffering from severe burn injuries. McCoy was taken to Wayne UNC Health and transferred to the Burn Unit at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Police believe McCoy was intentionally set on fire during a dispute while in the residence. An active investigation is underway. The identity of the suspect is being withheld at this time.
