Suspect Linked To Overdose Death Of 21 Year-Old Woman

ANGIER – An arrest was made this morning (Thursday) involving a fatal overdose death  near Angier.  The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call at 3:19pm Sunday, Aug. 23rd reporting an unresponsive person inside a home on Gary Drive.

Deputies located Meredith Norris inside the home. EMS confirmed she was deceased.  The initial investigation indicates the cause of Ms. Norris’ death was a narcotics overdose.

Investigators allege the victim’s death was due to narcotics supplied to her by Rhykeem Marshaun Johnson (AKA “Docky”), 23, Fuquay-Varina. Warrants for felony death by distribution were obtained by the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.

Johnson was arrested this morning in Holly Springs with the assistance of the Wake County Sheriff’s Office. Johnson was booked in at the Harnett County Detention Facility on a $1 million bond.

Sheriff Wayne Coats said in a press release the investigation was ongoing and it may lead to more charges in the future.

Meredith Norris was 21 years-old.
