A SWAT team arrested an armed robbery suspect Thursday morning after locating him inside a northern Sampson County home.
Around 2:35pm Wednesday, two men armed with guns entered Country Gas and Grocery at 4709 Highway 50 South of Benson and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash. During the hold up, one of the suspects assaulted a clerk who was hospitalized due to the injuries.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. With the assistance of the Wake and Sampson County Sheriff’s Departments, one of the suspects was located overnight hold up inside a home in northern Sampson County.
Around 3:00am today (Thursday), Sampson County SWAT Team members took 42 year-old Kenneth Wayne Allred of the 11000 block of Highway 96 South, Dunn into custody. Allred is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault inflicting serious bodily injury.
Johnston County Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said detectives are looking for the second suspect. Additional charges are pending.
