US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced Friday the federal tax filing deadline will move from April 15th to July 15th this year. Mnuchin said all taxpayers and businesses will have additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties.
Earlier this week, the treasury secretary announced the IRS would be waiving interest and penalties for up to 90 days on Americans who owe up to $1 million in taxes.
The IRS is still processing tax returns and issuing refunds. So far this year, refunds are averaging about $3,046.
