A local teacher was cited for misdemeanor larceny after she allegedly walked out of Walmart with unpaid craft supplies in her shopping cart.
On Saturday, June 22nd, Clayton Police responded to a call from the Clayton Walmart Loss Prevention staff who reported a woman placing items in her shopping cart concealed by a rain coat.
Walmart staff reported that she went to a staffed check-out but several items remained concealed by her coat.
Loss Prevention personnel stopped her on the way out and she cooperated with both store staff and police. The amount of the unpaid merchandise was $224.16.
Joanna Frantz, 59 was charged with misdemeanor larceny and released. According to Johnston County School officials, Mrs. Frantz is an art teacher at Clayton High School. She began her teaching assignment at Clayton High in August 2013.
