The Clayton Police Department has made an arrest in a string of bomb threats that were called into Clayton convenience stores and fast food restaurants over a two-day period in July.
Sixteen year-old Dallas Lamar Phillips, of 119 Lynn Drive in Clayton, was arrested yesterday on three felony counts of falsely reporting a bomb threat. Phillips was taken to the Johnston County Detention Center and placed under a $20,000.00 secured bond.
Clayton Police Detective Drew Medlin had been working the investigation since the bomb threats were called in to at least 5 businesses on July 20th and 21st. Det. Medlin has identified a second suspect and juvenile petitions have been obtained and are still pending.
While the calls were obviously a prank, Clayton police take all threats seriously and will investigate fake bomb threats until suspects are identified and arrested.
