The Highway Patrol has released the name of a teenager killed in a single car accident Monday morning. The collision happened on US301 just south of the Four Oaks city limits.
Nineteen year-old Johnny Shaquan Campbell of Four Oaks was traveling southbound and attempted to pass a line of vehicles. Campbell, who was traveling between 60 and 65mph according to Trooper G.H. Fryar, ran off the roadway, struck two mailboxes, a ditch bank, then a tree. Campbell died at the scene.
Trooper Fryar said he was unable to determine if Campbell was wearing a seat belt. There were no passengers in the vehicle.
It was raining at the time of the accident and the roadway was wet.
Trooper Fryar said the driver was traveling too fast for existing conditions. No other vehicles were involved. Photos courtesy John Payne
