A 19 year-old was seriously injured in a single car accident Friday afternoon. It happened on Shotwell Road near Clayton.
The driver lost control of his Honda which traveled off the roadway, struck a ditch, hit a driveway culvert and then overturned. The teenager was ejected from the vehicle onto the roadway.
He was transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.
Clayton Police temporarily shut down Shotwell Road while the accident was under investigation by the NC Highway Patrol.
