A teenager was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday morning in Franklin County.
The accident was reported at 7:25am on Cedar Creek Road. A preliminary investigation reveals a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, operated by Timothy Henry Coley, 18, of Franklinton was traveling east on Cedar Creek Road. Coley lost control of his vehicle, traveled off onto the westbound shoulder and struck a fence.
As a result of the collision, a passenger identified as Jamariuse Quan Gibbs, 17, of Franklinton succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Coley was transported to Wake Medical Center North with minor injuries.
Charges are pending. Speed was a contributing factor.
