A church van at a Kenly church is temporarily out of service until repairs can be made. A member of the Kenly Missionary Church, located at 1730 Highway 222 West, discovered Monday that someone had stolen a catalytic converter from one of their vans. The theft occurred sometime between Friday night and Monday morning.
This is the latest in a rash of catalytic converter thefts in Johnston and surrounding counties. On September 11th, someone stole the catalytic converter from a church van in the parking lot of Sylvia Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 222 about nine miles west of Kenly.
In December 2017, about a half dozen churches reportedly catalytic converters had been stolen from their passenger vans.
