Thieves Break Into Car Wash Payment Kiosk

SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating a break-in at a local car wash that resulted in the theft of an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, August 31, at American Pride Car Wash, located at 1203 N. Brightleaf Boulevard. According to police, one or more individuals forced their way into an unattended payment kiosk at the business.

Authorities said the thieves made off with cash from the machine. The damage to the kiosk is estimated at approximately $5,000.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Police have not released any suspect information at this time.
