Thieves Break Into Home Where 2 People Died

Bentley-Way-Break-In-FIJust two days after a Johnston County couple died in a murder-suicide, burglars struck the vacant residence.

On Monday, Nov. 23rd, Michael Summers, 46, allegedly shot and killed his wife, Jennifer Summers, 45, before turning the gun on himself. The couple’s two children, ages 11 and 16, fled to a neighbors home for help.

A relative went to the home on Bentley Way outside of Clayton last Wednesday only to discover the home had been burglarized.  Someone had cut wires in the utility meter box in an attempt to disable an alarm system. Entry was then forcibly made through a back door.

No items were reported missing.
