Smithfield Police tell WTSB News that thieves who stole from a local business last week returned to the same store this week and stole more items.
On Monday, four people including a pregnant women entered the Nike Factory Store on Outlet Center Drive. While one person distracted a store employee, the other three suspects grabbed $2,146 in clothing items and fled. The same suspects went to the Nike Store on March 27th and took seven pair of athletic shoes valued at $1,765.
Police Captain R. Sheppard said the two incidents are connected.
Also Monday, 40 polo shirts valued at $2,800 were taken during a shoplifting incident at Polo Ralph Lauren on Outlet Center Drive. Captain Sheppard said investigators are working to determine if that theft may be related to the ones from Nike.
