DUNN – Three people were found unresponsive in a room at the Seven Day Inn Tuesday afternoon, dead of apparent overdoses.
Dunn police and medics responded to room 5 at the inn, located at 700 E. Cumberland St., around 1 p.m. Efforts to revive the three were unsuccessful.
“There was also an infant found unharmed inside the room,” according Major Cary Jackson. “The infant was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and is in good condition.”
A rise in overdose calls have taxed the city’s emergency responders in recent weeks.
Police say this was an isolated incident.
“The investigation is still active and no further details can be released at this time pending notification of next of kin,” Jackson said.
