Three People Seriously Injured In Traffic Collision

SELMA – A couple in a pickup truck were traveling on Bizzell Grove Church Road, Friday afternoon, when the driver of a passenger car on Hinnant-Edgerton Road, failed to stop for a stop sign and collided at the intersection, just east of I-95.

The pickup t-boned the car sending the car into a ditch and flipping the pickup on its side, trapping the occupants. Firefighters used extrication equipment to carefully remove the two victims from the pickup.

The driver of the car was not restrained.  All three were transported to Wake Medical Center with serious injuries.

A neighbor who said that he has lived near the intersection his entire life said collisions are nothing new there. “I know of at least 5 fatalities, right here.”

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the 5:00pm accident.

Charges against the driver of the passenger car were pending.

      • This comment inferred the blame to be the intersection – “A neighbor who said that he has lived near the intersection his entire life said collisions are nothing new there. “I know of at least 5 fatalities, right here.”

          • Absolutely not. The intersection was deemed to have a problem, not the driver. You are obviously biased and obsessed with finding “technical” fault in your criticism of others.

      • I am biased towards dumb speculation and inferring from a neighbor who stated a fact. One could speculate and infer he blames people running the stop sign not an intersection.

    • Liberal..that is laughable.

The person who ran the stop sign will be at fault.
Not wearing their seatbelt is just another form of stupidity on their part – unless they have a valid medical reason then they will be issued a “Certificate of Exemption from Compulsory Seat Belt Wearing” which they must have with them and show to polce if requested. They are rare but are issued for certain reasons and may be just for a certain time frame.
Running a stop sign puts them at fault – not the fact they were not wearing a seat belt. That just more than likely caused them unneccesary injuries..

  1. Once again, distractive driver. Gotta look out for animals/deer (especially with their natural habitat is being destroyed for housing) then you have the drunks on road, and those people that can’t put their cell phone down because something is just so important than somebody’s life. Please drive safe people.

  2. Who cares if they didn’t have their seatbelt on it can only hurt them but stop at the stop signs stupid
