The Clayton Town Council has approved a lease agreement with the YMCA and Novo Nordisk.
Deputy Town Manager Nancy Medlin presented the council with an overview of the lease agreement with the two groups, during their Oct. 2nd meeting. The plan for Novo Nordisk includes a billion dollar expansion in which a portion of the land from the YMCA will be used.
In May the council approved to swap land with the YMCA so the town council build a water treatment plant. The property is located at 3798 Powhatan Road just off Highway 70.
Medlin said that it is exciting to have the land deal moving forward. Months before the town was in talks with Novo Nordisk regarding water treatment the YMCA site was discovered to be the best possible site for the expansion.
The agreement calls for the Novo Nordisk to lease the back portion of the property while the YMCA will lease the front portion of the land. The YMCA will then sublease the property to Johnston United Soccer Association known as (JUSA).
