A contract has been awarded to a Pine Level business to repair a large storm drain pipe damaged in Selma during Hurricane Matthew.
The metal storm drainage pipe on North Center Street was damaged by excessive storm water runoff. An estimated 150 feet of the 48 inch pipe was damaged and must be replaced.
Three companies bid on the project. Stuckey’s Backhoe Service was the low bidder at $23,330. Other bidders were RD Braswell at $28,203 and Allen Grading Company at $36,016.50.
Work is expected to begin in the next few weeks. The cost of the repair is expected to be reimbursed to the Town of Selma by FEMA.
