SMITHFIELD – In response to COVID-19, effective at 7:00 am, Wednesday, March 25th, all Town of Smithfield Parks and Recreation parks facilities, playgrounds and restrooms will close to help in the prevention of the spread of the virus. These facility closures include athletic playing fields, courts (tennis and basketball), shelters and fitness stations. These closures will remain in effect until further notice.
Greenways and trails are not affected by these closures and are still open for use by the public. While using greenways and trails, parks and rec officials ask that you use the following precautions:
• Refrain from using parks or trails if you are exhibiting symptoms.
• While on greenways/trails, alert other users of your presence as you pass, and step aside to let others pass.
• Always observe the minimum recommended social distancing of 6 feet from other individuals.
