SELMA – In an effort to help citizens and keep the town as clean as possible, the Selma Town Council has adopted a plan to rent out the town-owned dump truck.
Citizens can call the Selma Town Hall and rent the small dump truck for $55 a day. A town employee will drop off the truck and citizens can fill it up with debris. Once they are finished, town staff will pick up the truck and carry the debris to the Johnston County Landfill. Citizens will pay the actual cost of the landfill charges in addition to the rental fee.
Selma leaders hope this will encourage residents to clean up around their property, while providing citizens the convenience of hauling away large items and materials instead of leaving it curbside.
Citizens will not be allowed to move or operate the dump truck. A minimum of a two-day notice is requested prior to renting the truck, subject to the truck being available.
Officials hope this will be a popular option for weekend yard work and debris removal.
