
SMITHFIELD – A section of a large tree crashed onto a Smithfield home. Smithfield and Selma Fire were dispatched to the incident on Ash Street around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Two people were inside when the tree crashed through the roof. They were visible shaken and evaluated at the scene by Johnston County EMS paramedics.

Smithfield Fire Chief Jeremey Daughtry said the home was being used as an Airbnb.
Johnston County Building Inspections deemed the home as unsafe. Town of Smithfield electric crews arrived and disconnected electrical service.

There were no storms or high winds in the area when the tree fell.

Tree crashed into the house?? Did it not even see the stop sign???
