Triangle East Chamber Announces Legacy Awards

Four Distinguished Awards to be Presented on May 25th, 2023

JOHNSTON COUNTY – The Triangle East Chamber of Commerce has announced their second annual Legacy Awards celebration, an evening dedicated to honoring leaders who are investing their time, talent, and resources to impact our community. Four distinguished awards will be presented: the Lifetime Achievement Award, the Citizen of the Year Award, the Jimmy Creech Small Businessperson of the Year Award, and the Emerging Leader Award.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a citizen who has consistently served the region over their lifetime. This year’s recipient is Hank Daniels. Mr. Daniels is being recognized for his service to the community including the Chamber, Johnston Community College, First Baptist Church of Smithfield, and other organizations. In addition, Mr. Daniels serves as a role model for the next generation as his children also participate in community service based on his example.

The Citizen of the Year Award is presented to a citizen who has served the region consistently over the last year with outstanding ability and dedication. The Triangle East 2022 Citizen of the Year, Chandler Pernell, has worked to better his community through the Triangle East Chamber and numerous civic organizations such as My Kids’ Club and Activate Selma.

Jamie Stanley, of Hinson’s Printing, is the Jimmy Creech Small Businessperson of the Year Award recipient for 2022. Mr. Stanley is being recognized for the way his business has emerged successfully from COVID despite the challenges his industry faced. This honor is given in memory of 1976 Board Chair Jimmy Creech and is presented for success, longevity, and commitment to the community.

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes leaders under age 40 for their contributions to the betterment of the Triangle East community and impact on their business or organization. Nominees are: Kelly Blanchard, Lynn Daniels Bowles, Wade Corbett, Amanda Johnson, Shatisha Mclaurin, Erin Schultze, and Ellysa Smith. The 2022 Emerging Leader Award recipient will be recognized during the Legacy Awards presentation.

Special Recognition will be given to Smithfield-Selma High School’s Football Team and SECU Hospice House.
